Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer   is the land of the Bhatti princes, descended from the Moon God. It is the oldest of the ancient capitals of Rajasthan and dates back to 1156 AD. The golden Fort seems to rise out of the desert haze. Within the inner enclosure are a group of finely carved  Jian temples dating to the 12th  and 15th centuries AD. Outside the fort lanes lead to the famed havelies of Salim Singh, Nathamalji and Patwon. The city is surrounded by enormous sand-dunes with surrealistic  landscape patterned by winds.

Jodhpur

Jodhpur was the capital of Marwar. Founded in 1459 AD by Rao Jodha, the city of Jodhpur grew protected by high stone walls with seven gates and countless bastions. Awaiting the visitor are symbols of seven centuries of hardship and austerity, cloaked with blood-shed and bravery, culminating in grandiose magnificence and decadence. The massive Mehrangarh fort is protected by high stone walls with seven gates and countless bastions spread over 5 kilometers on a perpendicular hill suspended 125 meters above the city. On the way up to the fort are a collection of royal cenotaphs. The old city is the blue city derived from the Indigo tinge of the whitewashed houses around the Mehrangarh Fort.

Jaipur

The original old city of Jaipur was Colored yellow. It was repainted pink, the traditional color of welcome, for the visit of Prince Albert, consort of the English Queen Victoria. The wide straight avenues, roads, streets, lines and uniform rows of shops on either side of main markets were arranged in nine rectangular city sectors. The Rajputs were prolific builders and have dotted the arid Aravali  landscape with their legacy of some of the most imposing and magnificent forts and palaces in the world. From the glittery of cocktail lounges to crackling of nomadic campfires the stories of legendary Rajput clans continue to inspire and send tingles through the body

Hampi

Hampi was once the seat of the great Vijayanagara empire, and the center of Hindu rule for over 200 years since its inception in 1336. It is one of the most mesmerizing historical sites in south India. Set in a boulder strewn landscape, the ruins of this ancient city have a magnetism of their own. Today the desolate remains of the once magnificent Hindu empire lay strewn on the right bank of the Tungabhadra river. Across the banks of the Tungabhadra river, is the ancient fortified stronghold of Anegondi, the first major settlement in the area from which Vijayanagar was born.
